Far more than just a fish factory
At LocalFish, we rely on a sustainable circular system that equally considers the environment, animal welfare, and people. Our local fish farms operate resource-efficiently and CO₂-neutrally, with minimal land consumption. Through innovative water reuse and our zero-waste principle, we minimize waste and conserve natural resources. In this way, we create real added value for nature and society – far beyond traditional aquaculture.

Our Story
we stand for transparency
Naturally strong in everyday life.
Transparently produced. Locally raised. Full of flavor.
99.5% of the water remains in the cycle
Our circular system allows us to minimize water consumption, thus conserving natural resources. Our roof is designed to collect rainwater and feed it into the cycle. This means we practically don't need fresh groundwater, which is unique worldwide.
Our Own Energy
Sustainability is embedded in our system. We generate a large portion of our electricity with our own solar panels, while our facilities are designed for maximum energy efficiency. We cleverly reuse the waste heat generated to heat buildings and dry animal feed. Thanks to our closed water circuit, the temperature is also maintained, meaning hardly any additional energy is needed for heating.
Sustainable Fish Feed
Conventional fish feed is often based on wild-caught fish, which strains the oceans and promotes bycatch. LocalFish takes a sustainable approach:
Our feed contains no wild-caught fish or bycatch and is produced from carefully selected by-products of other industries. With this approach, we burden the seas and lakes by 0%.
Together with a Swiss feed manufacturer, we have developed a sustainable formula that guarantees the highest quality – for healthy fish and an intact environment.
Minimum footprint
For 1kg of fish, we only need about 0.025 square meters of space – less than a footprint.
Globally, this is a top value compared to all protein sources. Fun fact:
To produce all of Switzerland's fish requirements, we would need an area
of only about 50 football fields.
Awarded A
We believe the future needs honest food. The EcoScore A confirms our path: a well-thought-out system that enables enjoyment without burdening future generations.
CO2-Neutral Production
Thanks to a highly efficient ecosystem approach and an
integrated energy system where we don't need to heat a large portion of the water, energy costs are reduced.
At 1.45 kgCO2 per kg of fish, we have by far the lowest CO2 consumption of all protein producers, and are even CO2-neutral compared to
fisheries!
